Basketry Workshop - Intro to Twining with Brambles

  • Olympia Center 222 Columbia Street Northwest Olympia, WA, 98501 United States (map)

During this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of making baskets with natural materials using the “twining” technique. We’ll talk about which “brambles” we have in our area that are great for this style of basketry as well as how to harvest and prepare materials.

Then, we’ll prepare our bramble - English Ivy - by splitting the stems and discuss other preparation processes. As a group, we’ll each make our own twined basket learning how to start, weave, and finish. All experience levels welcome and all materials included.
