Birds & Beavers Walk (FREE)

  • Interpretive Park @ Capitol Lake (SEE NOTES) 300 Deschutes Way SW, Tumwater, WA 98512 Olympia Washington (map)

With the arrival of spring, the forests and wetlands are come alive! During this early spring wildlife walk, led by naturalists Ryan Johnson and Licia Sahagun of Firecraft Northwest, we will focus on any winter birds that haven’t yet migrated south, newcoming birds making their way north, and local mammals picking up activity.

For this outing, walk the trails and boardwalks of the Interpretive Park at Capitol Lake to study waterfowl, over-wintering songbirds and migrating perching birds, beaver sign, and if we’re lucky, other mammals that may come out during the session.

Please come prepared for this trip with warm layers, warm, comfortable footwear, and rain protection, and binoculars if you have them.

Please note - the address listed can take you to two different locations depending on your map! We are meeting at the Interpretive Park at Capitol Lake (NOT Tumwater Falls!). This is where 101 and i-5 intersect, off of Deschutes Way at the south end of Capitol Lake. There is a bathroom and small boardwalk that goes out onto the lake. That’s where we’ll meet!
