When October’s rain begin the Fall Fungi Season will be here! To prepare for your own fungi forays, join us for a light walk on the trails near the Rose Garden at Squaxin Park to learn the basics of tree and fungi identification, and how their ecology is intertwined. We'll do a slow meandering walk through the woods and discuss what we find!
Participants will learn:
Tree ID basics and botany
Fungi ecology basics and terminology
A few fungi to practice identifying in the field
Ethical and sustainable harvesting and foraging concepts
5-10 tree species (or more!)
5-10 fungi species (or more!)
Accessibility: There are a few small hills on this hike. Overall, the hike will cover 1-2 miles round trip at a slow pace and be considered “easy” difficulty.
