Bramble Berry Basket Workshop | Aug 16 | 10AM-2PM

$65.00

Make your own berry basket out of English Ivy in time for peak harvesting of blackberries, blueberries, marionberries and more! During this hands-on basketry workshop you’ll learn the basics of creating a ribbed basket.

We’ll discuss which plants and brambles we have in the area that are great for basketry and how to harvest and prepare basket materials, including English Ivy, the bramble we’ll be using to weave. Then, we’ll learn step by step how to create your basket frame, make a “gods eye” and “ribs” to start, and then weave and finish your basket! This class is open to all skill levels and all materials are included.

Note - this class will be seated for the duration of the class with repetitive hand motions that can be challenging for those with arthritis or similar pain/mobility limitations.

Please bring with you:

  • Sharp scissors or pruning shears if you have them

  • Lunch/snacks/water

  • Sit pad if you’d like (we’ll be on folding chairs)

We will be at the beautiful Kenneydell Park Lodge with access to a kitchen (including microwave and refrigerator) for storing/preparing your lunch and nearby flush toilets.
