Intro to Botanical Pressing | Aug 17 | 10-1
Join Licia, lifelong artist and nature nerd, from Firecraft Northwest for a flower-filled morning! During this workshop you’ll learn the basics of botanical pressing including different techniques, tips, and tricks.
You’ll put together your own take-home flower press kit made with unfinished wood (so you can paint, finish, or decorate it as you’d like!) Then, we’ll do three take-home crafts (all materials included) as starter ideas for using your new pressed flowers (pressed flower stickers, handmade gift tags, and one art piece or floral greeting card). No experience necessary.
Participants will be asked to bring the following items with them (let us know if you don’t have access to these):
Pair of scissors
Pair of clean tweezers
At least once piece of corrugated cardboard sized 6”x5” or bigger (e.g. from a package box, must be thicker than a cereal box) — it’s okay if it has ink/labels on it
(Optional) - notebook or notepad to take notes
(Optional) - a folder or envelope to carry your stickers, gift tags, and art home safely
(Optional) - other non-liquid art supplies for decorating your stickers or art pieces (e.g. markers, colored pencils, gel pens, etc. but please no paints or glitter to keep the Olympia Center clean!)
Registration prices includes:
Take-home 6.5”x5.5” botanical press and blotting paper
Materials to make three gift tags
Materials to make three stickers
Materials to make one greeting card or art piece
A variety of pressed flowers to use for the above crafts
All craft materials and then some! (papers, markers, glues, etc.)
